Online Marketing Success: These are the Platforms that Should Be Put to Work for Your Business

What's it take to market a company effectively online? To put it simply, a multi-faceted approach and a whole lot of discipline. Those that not only succeed at putting their brand in front of the largest numbers of people from their target markets, but also convince them to buy goods and services have a carefully designed marketing strategy which employs not just one but several (if not all) of the forms of marketing that can be done via the web.

In today's post, I want to delve a little deeper into the channels that are available for web marketing and to share some of the reasons they're so beneficial. While there are several different forms of online marketing available, with everything from social media and network marketing to video marketing, I'm going to focus on those that I feel are most important for the vast majority of businesses.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): SEO brings greater visibility to your website by improving its position in the search engine rankings. If your website isn't appearing on the first page of the search rankings for keyword terms that relate to your offering, you will miss the chance to attract new business online. There are hundreds of variables that are considered when Google and others award rankings, so SEO experts use a multi-faceted strategy that includes link building, blogging and other tactics to improve your site's authority.

Local SEO or Location Based Marketing: The goal of this form of web marketing is to drive more of the local customers you need to your store. Having a presence in as many of the online business directories is a great way to improve your company's visibility for local searches.

Social Media: Think Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn. Sharing information and interacting with the people who are or may be interested in what it is that your company offers is an effective way to reach more potential customers. Not every social media platform is suited for every business, however, and so your strategy should take this into account.

Blogging: Blogging is not only one of the pieces in the SEO pie and, therefore, necessary if you want your website to rank well, but it's also an effective way to convey your authority to and interact with site visitors. Writing about the topics that you know well and that your visitors will find useful is a great way to build trust, and without trust, you won't attract new leads and sales through your website.

Email Marketing: Building a solid list of subscribers and sharing company news and exclusive deals with them directly via email newsletters and other messages is a great way to keep current and prospective customers interested and right where you want them - in your sales funnel!

Again, this is just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to marketing online, and it's important that your business employ at least some of these platforms to get your brand better exposure.
