Meet the Team

Lisa Arlint
Account Manager

Lisa is dedicated to providing the best customer service for all your website, graphic design, and logo needs.

She has two kids and grew up in the Peace country. Lisa and her family have been loving acreage life just outside of Grande Prairie since 2006. Hobbies include many arts and crafts as well as enjoying family time. She is well versed in non-profit organizations, has sat on a provincial board in education for four years, and enjoys giving her time to charitable teams.

Lisa founded a small charitable organization in her community that helps provide local families in need with grocery gift cards and small non-perishable food items.
Chris Arnoldus
Graphic & Web Designer

Chris ensures all designs and brand guidelines are followed while attending to the complex issues involved in graphics and web design. He’s been working at Saltmedia since 2015 and is essential to our visual planning and designing logos, visual brands, print media, books, websites, and more!

Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a major in graphic design from VIU. (He was the first student in 10 years to pull this off and insists this is where his grey hair came from.) He has a wealth of experience in retail management and is one of the friendliest designers you will ever work with! He appreciates direct and honest feedback on all his designs and works hard to truly deliver designs that each client loves.

Alex, Angie, and Chris all went to the same high school together but hardly knew each other.
Brenda Baron
Administrative Assistant

Grande Prairie was lucky to get Brenda back after she spend over 20 years on Vancouver Island! When she moved back, she worked with the County in Financial Services. Turns out she was used to working a lot more and said working one job was like a holiday for her!

Now, Brenda takes care of all things administrative at Saltmedia. This group of creatives and nerds relies on her to keep things organized and make sure that bills (and the team) all get paid. We sure appreciate that!

When she’s not working, Brenda is homesteading in the northern part of the County where she raises livestock, enjoys nature, and crafts. Her latest project involves creating pottery on her Pottery Wheel.

Brenda has over 20 years of experience playing slow pitch and was a Certified Girls Little League Coach on the Island.
Paul Bomett
Website Developer

Paul has worked in the technology industry for over 7 years in a mix of both IT and software development. His software development experience ranges from testing and development to managing teams. Paul’s fluency in JavaScript frameworks such as Angular and NodeJS, as well as content management systems such as WordPress make him a great asset to the team.

Paul is passionate about technology and its applications in solving problems for humans. He also works as an IT Analyst for IT Horizons (Saltmedia’s sister company). You can find Paul solving technical problems for customers every day; ensuring the smooth operation of their computer systems and devices. He has Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Kabarak University where he graduated top of his class.

Paul was once a member of a band that competed at a national level and won a wildlife conservation award for the song they wrote.
Carmen Klassen
Communications

Carmen takes care of all our in-house writing needs and handles any client writing as part of our web development and marketing packages. Although her base is in the Okanagan, the magic of technology means we always have her at hand (virtually).

Carmen is another Psychology major on our team and has been writing professionally for six years. Her specialty is understanding exactly what each client and company wants to say, and then converting that into the words that best connect with their target audience.

She’s also an expert in taking tricky SEO requirements and turning them into interesting content that appeases the Google algorithm.

Carmen has published a series of women’s fiction and a non-fiction book on organizing.
Alex Saltman
VP Technology

As managing partner at Saltmedia, Alex leads the technical side of our team and operations. He is the perfect blend of business smarts and crunchy nerdiness. Alex is an Expert IT Manager, System Administrator, and Full Stack Web Developer, and is responsible for day-to-day business processes.

He is continuously improving our internal CRM to ensure every client request gets the full attention it deserves, projects are clearly defined in our software, and all team members can easily add their work and time entries—success is in the details!

Alex also planned and developed our Saltmedia Data Centre, located in nearby Edmonton with a replica/failover server right here in GP. Alex is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional in Server Virtualization, studied Music at UBC, and Computer Science and Mathematics at UNBC. Alex moved to GP in 2002.

Alex is a semi-pro classical musician.
Angie Saltman
President and Visionary Lead

Angie is the founder of Saltmedia, and her vision has always been “Creating Success Online”. Alex & Angie Saltman are life and business partners and have married design, tech, and marketing together for the last 12 years.

Angie is an Indigenous innovative leader who believes in supporting the local economy by hiring local, shopping local, and giving back to the community. Her friendly attitude makes working through any difficult issues much easier.

She has 20 years’ experience in the technology and design fields and her specialties are team collaboration, leadership, internet, design, and client services. Angie holds a Diploma in IT and is currently working on her Plain Language Certificate from SFU to level up her visual and written communications.

We’re not sure where she makes the time, but she’s been on the board of directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association-Alberta Northwest Region since 2010 and is currently sitting as Past President. She’s passionate about using her skills and voice to promote good mental health.

Angie has over 200 indoor plants between her home and office.

Community, Culture, Environment, and Music

At its heart, our business is about people—the people in our office, our customers as individuals, and the community of people that surround us. So, we can’t just operate in a vacuum. Instead, we’re always trying to look at the bigger picture and make things better.

Our Green Office

We have a green office. Literally. There are a lot of plants in the office! They help with mental wellness, and better air quality, and they just look great. We also are nearly paperless and are cognizant of the resources we do use.

Indigenizing our Business

Becoming a CCAB-registered Indigenous business was an important step for us, but it’s one of many we’re taking to indigenize our business. Saltmedia is run by a Métis woman, and we won the first eagle feather award offered by our local chamber of commerce.

Our team dedicates time and resources to supporting Indigenous causes and being involved in worthy Indigenous activities. We donate to Indigenous organizations and are learning to run this business with Indigenous values by taking actions like implementing the Seven Sacred Teachings into our approach.

Keeping the Music Playing

We believe that the arts are an essential part of our community, and we’re committed to supporting them in Grande Prairie. This includes donating graphic design, website design and development, and website hosting to the Grande Prairie Music Society (with 5 fantastic groups), attending and supporting local events, and doing everything we can to support music in Grande Prairie.

Saltmedia also has a few musicians on our team! Those that can, play. Those that can’t, enjoy listening.

Giving Back to Our Community

We’re so grateful to the charities in Grande Prairie, and we are proud to support many of them. We extensively support the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grande Prairie with donated marketing valued at $500/month (something we’ve been doing for years) and we built them a great website as a donation.

For several years, we donated the Salvation Army food drive website and hosting—one of Canada’s largest food drives! Every chance we get, we want to help our community both as individuals and as a business.

Proudly Indigenous

Our Indigenous heritage is an important part of who we are, and we’re proud to incorporate this into our business and life philosophies. We take where we’re from and we use it to grow and give.

We’re a registered Indigenous business for the federal government. That means we can take on procurement opportunities. And we’re proud members of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.

We’re also open to joint ventures, so when you want a great collaboration, let us know! We love working alongside other businesses to complement and amplify your work. And, when you want to ensure you add the lens of diversity to your projects, please consider the team at Saltmedia!

Humble Beginnings

Our founder, Angie Saltman, cut her techie teeth at London Drugs, and then worked as a double agent at Geek Squad. But when the position changed in 2010, she knew it was time to start her own business. In the last decade, Saltmedia has grown around the priorities of work ethics, excellent customer service, solid graphics and technical backgrounds, effective communications, and the goal of making, buying, and implementing websites easy for each client.

Going back in time to that London Drugs job… turns out Alex was working his first ‘after high school’ job there, too! It was pure nerd love, and now we have the best of both of them, as Alex is the general manager at Saltmedia. He is the lead on all things IT (including web development) and is the perfect complement to Angie’s skills (and personality!).

Reliable and Experienced

Everyone on our team has at least a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience. But it’s pretty easy these days to find that. What’s rare is the commitment to customer service that we all share. Our customer’s experiences become a part of Saltmedia. If we quote something and it runs over budget, we don’t change the budget, and we still deliver on our promises.
One more point for those of you who are still reading and getting to know Saltmedia (plus a tip of our hat for your diligence!): technology changes. A lot. That’s fine with us. Our inner nerds are constantly expanding our knowledge and skills so that nothing is beyond our abilities. It makes it much easier to deliver the results we’re known for, and it fits in well with our constant striving for excellence.

Ready to meet the team and talk about how we can help make your digital dreams come true? Contact us today! There’s no pressure, just a sincere interest in learning how we can help you with all the nerdy things we love to do.
