Spread a Little Joy by Showing Your Support for the Grande Prairie Secret Angels

Earlier this year, Saltmedia had the sheer pleasure of donating a website to Grande Prairie Secret Angels, an organization that delivers Christmas gifts to families that otherwise wouldn't receive any, and also assists people throughout the year with donations of food, toiletries, clothing and household items.

Grande Prairie Secret Angels was one of several local organizations that were nominated during our 2015 Peace Country Website Giveaway. Working with the organization, our web design company created a site that is now an important time-saving tool, which allows the Secret Angles to spend more time helping families and less time on administration.

Having learned so much more about what it is that this incredible organization does, we feel very passionate about offering our assistance to the Secret Angels, both in their annual efforts to support families in the area but also to help with a new initiative, one in which they wish to donate helpful gifts to our local elders shelter.

Recently on Facebook, April, the organization's founder, posted that they are looking for sponsors to 'adopt' the Elders Caring Shelter this Christmas. There are 18 residents at the shelter, all whom are on very limited incomes and only partially supported by Alberta Homeless Supports.

April's goal is for people in the community to help her make Christmas baskets for the elders, and she's asking for people to show their support in any way they can, whether it's donating a few toiletries, some food or other items on the shelter's wish list, helping to put the baskets together, joining April when the baskets are delivered on Christmas Eve, or all of the above.

April's own experiences as a recipient of the kind generosity of others at Christmas time is what prompted her to start the Secret Angels. Just 6 years ago, she and her 2 children were staying at the local shelter, Odyssey House, and were anonymously adopted by a family who provided them with gifts that April would not have been able to give her children, at the time. The Grande Prairie Secret Angels is April's way of paying it forward, but it is an idea that has caught on in our community and one that's brought so many people together to help less fortunate families.

So, from our web design company to you, we ask that you show your support and help the Grande Prairie Secret Angels in any way you can. Whether it's by adopting a family anonymously or delivering gits in person on Christmas Eve, or helping with the Angels' new initiative to bring a little joy to local elders this holiday season, this organization does a great deal of good for the people in our community.
